Scottish Business in the Community

Nicattos are proud to be involved in the Scottish Business in the Community mentoring programme.  David spends time every month mentoring a pupil at Craigie High School and has been involved with the project since its introduction into Dundee.

'Mentoring a young person can be one of the most rewarding ways to develop your skills and experience.  A mentoring partnership combines staff development with helping to support, encourage and equip young people with the skills to compete in the employment market.  A member of staff is paired up with a young person.  The aim of the mentor programme is to build the young person's confidence and support them into a positive work or training destination.'  (Excerpt from SBC literature)

David had found the experience extremely rewarding and believes that the mentoring sessions really do make a difference to the pupil.  This year marks the third round of mentoring following the success of the last four years.  Dundee City Council have now taken over the day to day running of the programme but they are still looking for volunteers.

Sponsorship and charitable donations

When we set up Nicattos we wanted to make sure we were involved in our local community as much as possible, part of our company philosophy is that for a business to be a success and be welcomed by people it needs to give something back to the community.

For the 2009/10 rugby season Nicattos sponsored Marc Moghbel of Harris FP's who recently were promoted from division two.

Nicattos also during the rugby season have a pitch at the Dundee High School FP's and during the course of the season we gift back a percentage of our profits to the club.

Last year Nicattos were invited to the Hilltown Summer Festival, which was organised by the charity Signpost International.  The event was a big success for the community and Nicattos were able to donate a portion of our proceeds for the day back to the charity.

We also attended the West Green Park Residents Association Summer Barbeque in Liff and again gifted back part of our proceeds.

We worked with the British Heart Foundation this year on their Jim Jam Jog in Camperdown Park
